TMK IPSCO Announces the Appointment of George Adams as Director of Sales - OCTG - Americas
DOWNERS GROVE, Ill., Jan. 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Steel tubular manufacturer TMK IPSCO is pleased to announce the appointment of George Adams to the newly created position of Director of Sales - OCTG - Americas. Mr. Adams, based in Houston, will be responsible for coordinating and integrating all sales activity for TMK IPSCO's OCTG tubular product lines and for bringing into focus the company's new market direction for seamless, ERW and related products, both imported and domestic.
George brings to TMK IPSCO over 30 years of sales and operational management experience in all facets of the oil and gas industry, including exploration, production and distribution. After receiving his Bachelors degree at Northern Arizona University, George began his oil and gas career at Bow Valley Exploration in Denver as Joint Interest Accountant, then moved into Purchasing as Materials Coordinator. He moved to Midland Pipe as Regional Sales Manager for their Rocky Mountain Office in 1981. Midland transferred George to Houston three years later to develop new markets and enhance marketing efforts for the gulf coast area.
In 1991 George joined Premier Pipe Inc., (PPI), a Dallas based distributor of OCTG and affiliated OCTG services. George opened the Houston office and served the company as Senior Vice President and as a partner. In 1996 PPI merged with Total Pipe Services and formed Total Premier Services Inc., (TPSI) added to their portfolio a full line of API threading services. In 2000 TPSI was acquired by Sumitomo Corporation of America. As part of this acquisition, George became Commercial and Business Development Manager for Sumitomo Corp. Global Tubular Solutions Business (SCGTS), a global provider of One Stop Shop OCTG services, including management, inventory control, warehousing, inspection, welding and fabrication of product.
In 2006 George joined British Petroleum (BP) as Materials Manager for Gulf of Mexico Exploration and Production, the position he left to join TMK IPSCO.
