TMC Opens Largest Ever National Technicians Skills Competition
Annual TMCSuperTech and FutureTech Events to be Held During TMC Fall Meeting
ORLANDO, Fla., Sept. 16, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, American Trucking Associations' Technology & Maintenance Council opened competition on the 14th annual National Technicians Skills Competitions – TMCSuperTech – here at the Orlando World Center Marriott.
"This year is a special one in the history of this competition," said TMC Executive Director Robert Braswell. "We have added an entirely new class of competition for light and medium duty truck technicians, and as a result will have our largest and most challenging competition ever with 78 skill stations."
This year, 125 technicians from around the country will be competing for the title of TMCSuperTech Grand Champion alongside 32 students in the TMCFutureTech National Student Technicians Skills Competition sponsored by the TechForce Foundation.
"Right now, there is no better time to get into this industry," Braswell said. "It is an exciting time to become a diesel engine or truck technician – and with a shortage of qualified technicians, it is our hope that by shining a spotlight on the skill and expertise of these fine men and women, more people – especially young people will consider trucking as a career path."
In conjunction with the competition, TMC is holding its annual Fall Meeting and looking at important issues ranging from the industry's readiness to handle complex modern electrical systems, recruiting and retaining technicians and a whole host of questions facing the trucking industry.
