NEW YORK, Feb. 6, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Gatemore Capital Management has acquired athlete representation and sports marketing agency TLA Worldwide's US business, which has been rebranded to GSE Worldwide. GSE will continue to operate as a full-service talent agency and sports management and marketing practice, representing professional athletes, coaches and personalities, consulting with brands, and managing and executing world-class sporting events and activations.
As part of the relaunch, Peter Greenberg will take the helm of GSE's baseball agency, which is one of the largest in the country with over 175 clients, including 2018 NL Rookie of the Year Ronald Acuña Jr, Starling Marte, Justin Turner and more.
Andrew Witlieb will lead the new-look GSE's sports marketing practice which, in addition to baseball, represents a myriad of talent across broadcasting, coaching, football, golf, tennis and Olympics in contract negotiations, commercial opportunities and off-field activities. GSE Sports Marketing features a team of the top agents in the industry representing a number of the most exciting and high-profile athletes in sport, including golfers Bryson DeChambeau and Jim Furyk, tennis stars Mike and Bob Bryan and Grigor Dimitrov and current and retired pro football players Devonta Freeman, Bo Jackson and Steve Young.
"We are extremely well positioned for aggressive growth following our alignment with Gatemore and rebrand to GSE," said Michael Principe, CEO, GSE Worldwide. "With the backing of Gatemore, we have the capital and the renewed energy to continue to build an unparalleled client roster and push into new lines of business."
Through the acquisition and relaunch, Gatemore has privatized the company and recapitalized it to operate debt free. The rebranded GSE will offer a platform to make significant investments to aggressively expand the new company's roster of agents and clients, as well as explore additional acquisitions – ultimately establishing a world-class talent management and sports marketing company. Gatemore's relationship with GSE predecessor, TLA Worldwide, began with an initial investment in 2017.
Liad Meidar, Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer at Gatemore said: "Gatemore is delighted to be launching the GSE Worldwide brand. In partnership with the firm's strong management team, we look forward to developing the business under private ownership, free of the short-term pressures that can come with a public listing. I am confident that as a result of this investment and our work with the company's management, GSE Worldwide will develop further as a leading sports marketing brand."
The rebranded GSE Worldwide will be headquartered in New York, with 45 staff across the Americas.
