Tipsy Elves Featured on Shark Tank Episode to Air December 13th
The number one "ugly Christmas sweater" retailer is slated to appear on popular investor show this Friday.
SAN DIEGO, Dec. 12, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The San Diego based "ugly Christmas sweater" retailer Tipsy Elves recently taped an episode with the popular ABC reality show Shark Tank. The sharks on that episode are Lori Greiner, Marc Cuban, Daymond John, Robert Herjavec and Kevin O'Leary, while Tipsy Elves was represented by co-owners Nick Morton and Evan Mendelsohn.
The company sprang up in the wake of a sudden rise in the popularity of "ugly sweater Christmas parties," in which guests vie for the designation of ugliest sweater. Mendelsohn, formerly a full time lawyer, quit his job in 2012 to help run Tipsy Elves full time, while Morton currently splits his days between the sweater company and a thriving full time practice as an endodontist.
"Filming the Shark Tank episode was a blast," says Morton. "We can't disclose what happened on the episode, but we really want everyone to watch it - it's an amazing show and we were thrilled to be accepted to appear on it!"
Mendelsohn adds, "We've had a great year, and being on Shark Tank was really the icing on the cake - it's a chance not a lot of companies ever get. I wouldn't have missed it for anything!"
The company is well known not only for its unique, engaging sweaters but its unflagging commitment to charity. Tipsy Elves is currently partnered with Stand Up To Cancer, donating $2 for every sweater sold on TipsyElves.com through December 31, 2013 to help fund cancer research. Morton and Mendelsohn have promised at least $25,000 donation to SU2C, and donations could reach $100,000. Tipsy Elves also runs the popular Sweaters 4 Sweaters program, with every sale on their site contributing to a clothing program for children in need.
The last quarter of 2013 has been busy for the small but robust company. "We have added more accessories to our line, such as hats, ties and even a dog sweater," says Morton. "We also debuted some new products for Christmas this year, including jumpsuits and ugly Christmas sweater dresses."
Tipsy Elves designs run the gamut, from quirky but family friendly to slightly naughty and tongue in cheek. Visitors to the online store can browse through relatively tame images of Rudolph and gingerbread men, or opt for the more racy reindeer orgy or a drunken Santa writing his name in the snow.
"There's someone for everyone," concludes Mendelsohn. "We aim to be unique and we like to make people laugh, no matter what their sense of humor is."
The Shark Tank episode featuring Tipsy Elves is scheduled to air on December 13, 2013, at 9/8 Central on ABC.
Tipsy Elves is an apparel company headquartered in San Diego, California, with online retail stores for the US, Canada and the UK.
Stand Up To Cancer is a program of the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF), a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization.
