NEW YORK, Nov. 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- According to the U.S. Small Business Administration the 23 million small businesses in America today account for 54% of all US sales. Furthermore, small businesses provide 55% of all jobs and 66% of all new jobs since the 1970s. So what are some of the best ways for small businesses to brand themselves and continue to grow their businesses with increased customers and repeat sales?
A recent survey of 1,000 men and women across the US was conducted for Imprint Plus, leading manufacturer of customized, re-usable, magnetic name badge and signage systems, to determine what small businesses can do to thrive and continue to grow. When asked about increasing business, three quarters (75%) of the respondents stated that they generally do more business with a person that they know by name. More than half (55%) added that it is very important to put a face to a name and more than three-quarters (79%) reported that knowing a person's name makes one more willing to do business with that firm.
"Companies invest a great deal of monies and effort into their branding operations, and staff should not be overlooked as the key component of a successful branding initiative," said Marla Kott, CEO of Imprint Plus. "Our experience tells us that customers and business partners choose to connect with businesses that visibly brand and distinguish their staff with identification tools, such as customized name badges that promote accountability and further a commitment to customer relations."
Some of the tools noted for doing business included name badges and business cards. Three quarters (75%) of those surveyed stated that seeing a name badge upon being introduced to someone was important in putting a face to the name, and two in five or 40% said that a name badge is equally important as receiving a business card when conducting business.
