CANTON, Ohio, July 15, 2011 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Timken Company (NYSE:TKR) today announced plans to raise base prices on special bar quality (SBQ) and seamless mechanical tubing products, while also raising its minimum quantities for quench and tempered orders. The new pricing applies to non-contract purchases, while raw-material surcharges remain in effect.

SBQ Bar Products
Effective with Nov. 1, 2011 shipments, SBQ prices will rise as follows:
- Bars greater than 6 inches through 9 inches increase by $40 per ton;
- Bars greater than 9 inches through 12 inches increase by $80 per ton; and
- Bars greater than 12 inches through 16 inches increase by $120 per ton.
Timken will double its minimum quantity for quench and tempered SBQ orders from 20,000 to 40,000 pounds.
Seamless Mechanical Tubing Products
Effective with Dec. 1, 2011 shipments, Timken will raise carbon tubing prices by 15 percent, while prices for alloy tubing products will increase by as much as 10 percent. Timken also will double the minimum order quantity for quench and tempered tubing from 10,000 to 20,000 pounds.
