TimiCoin/TimiHealth Activates CMS Blue Button 2.0 to Empower Medicare Beneficiaries to Upload their Medicare Claims History into its Secure Blockchain Platform
AUSTIN, Texas, July 16, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Timicoin/TimiHealth (www.timicoin.io) today announced integration of the CMS Blue Button 2.0 into the TimiHealth ecosystem, thereby enabling Medicare beneficiaries to easily upload and integrate their Medicare claims history into a secure blockchain platform.
This data includes inpatient, outpatient, and pharmacy data of over 53 million beneficiaries who'll be able to take control of and tokenize their health data.
"The tokenization of healthcare data will incentivize patient engagement, drive active individual participation and provide more positive outcomes" said Dr. James Bonnette, clinical Advisory Board member for TimiHealth.
TimiHealth is committed to providing people access to their aggregated health history, eliminating low-value health care, affording individuals the opportunity to monetize their personal healthcare data through tokenization.
TimiHealth is aligned with CMS's initiative, MyHealthEData, which supports beneficiary ownership and control over healthcare data. This initiative currently includes 53 million beneficiaries and is expected to ultimately include all 130 million CMS beneficiaries.
In its 2019 Call Letter, CMS published considerations for mandating implementation of Blue Button 2.0 for Medicare Advantage plans covering 20 million individuals. These mandates further bolster CMS Administrator Seema Verma's announcement at HIMSS 2018 that patients require transparency and control of their medical data.
In alignment with Verma's comments, TimiHealth believes every individual deserves to have control over their healthcare data and feel empowered to make informed decisions as to how that data is utilized.
Verma stated, "I've always been struck by how seldom the patient is mentioned in discussions around value-based care. Let me be clear, we will not achieve value-based care until we put the patient at the center of our healthcare system...This administration is dedicated to putting patients first, to be empowered consumers of health care that have the information they need to be engaged and active decision makers in their care."
TimiHealth believes patient-centric ownership of data and the ability for an individual to grant access to a comprehensive view of that data will dramatically increase its value and lead to better patient outcomes.
"Patients will be empowered to share their health history with health plans and providers tasked with coordinating their care. This data will be invaluable in hastening understanding and managing chronic disease states, eliminating low-value care, coordinating clinical care plans, and ensuring a better patient experience," said Bonnette.
