Time's Almost Up: Final Hours To Cast Online Votes For All-Star Game Elected Starters

NEW YORK, July 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- With just more than 12 hours remaining in the voting, baseball fans continue to furiously cast online ballots that may determine several tight races among the players vying for the 17 starting positions in the 85th All-Star Game on Tuesday, July 15. The 2014 All-Star Game MLB.com Ballot Sponsored by Experian closes tonight at 11:59 p.m. (EDT).
Balloting history has shown a final day push from fans voting online at MLB.com and the 30 Club sites, which in recent years has averaged nearly four million online votes per closing day, might impact the starting lineups for the Midsummer Classic.
Many of the closest races have tightened in the past 24 hours of online voting, including the following trends:
AL Catcher: Derek Norris over Matt Wieters (+40% more online votes on 7/2)
AL Outfield: Adam Jones over Melky Cabrera (+20%); Jones over Yoenis Cespedes (+18%)
NL Catcher: Jonathan Lucroy over Yadier Molina (+24%)
NL Third Base: Aramis Ramirez over David Wright (+72%)
NL Outfield: Giancarlo Stanton over Carlos Gomez (+14%); Yasiel Puig over Stanton (+6%); Puig over Gomez (+20%)
