Time Travel And Horror Collide In Upcoming Film "Shifter"
OKLAHOMA CITY, July 17, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Planet Thunder Productions has launched an IndieGoGo campaign in association with Freestyle Creative to fund the production of their upcoming project, a time travel horror film called "Shifter."
"Shifter" is a film about a young woman who experiences the painful and gruesome side effects of an unsuccessful time travel experiment that causes her to randomly shift through time. The film is written and directed by Jacob Leighton Burns and produced by Vinnie Hogan and Zachary Burns. Burn's writing is inspired by David Cronenberg's "The Fly" and John Carpenter's "The Thing," striking a tone that balances all of the classic trappings within a horror film. The story highlights the character's inner conflict along with themes of isolation, depression and the dangers of unchecked pride.
The campaign follows the success of the Planet Thunder Production's science-fiction thriller, "Electric Nostalgia," which premiered to a sold out audience at the 2016 deadCenter Film Festival and won Best Oklahoma Feature Film. "Electric Nostalgia" continued to collect awards as it filled festival theaters across the country, including the Austin Film Festival, the Boston Sci-Fi Film Festival, the Idyllwild Festival of Cinema and the Orlando Film Festival.
"I've been a fan of time travel films for a long time," says director Jacob Leighton Burns, "but I began to wonder what the 'horror' of time travel would be. It was through my exploration of this idea that the seeds of "Shifter" were sprouted. I think we've stumbled upon a unique premise that has the potential to be unlike any other time travel film I've ever seen, and that's incredibly exciting."
