Time is running out to adopt a duck and support a Special Olympics Athlete

ATLANTA, June 19, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- It's not too late to make a difference in the life of a Special Olympics athlete and you can do it by adopting a rubber duck today in the 2012 Duck Derby.

"Time is running out to adopt and any donation counts," said the Duck Derby organizer Rebecca Surles of Special Olympics Georgia. "Plus, the derby is a fun family activity," said the special events manager of Special Olympics Georgia.

The Duck Derby, set for Friday, June 22, is a fundraiser that raises money to help provide year-round training and competition to children and adults with intellectual disabilities. The event will be held at Six Flags White Water.

The park opens at 10 a.m. and the race starts at 2 p.m. Visit www.atlantaduckderby.com today to adopt your duck online.

With a $5 donation, one racing duck will be adopted in someone's name and entered in the race. You do not need to be present to win.

The adoptee of the first duck to cross the finish line wins a three-night stay at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino and a $200 dining credit. Second place prize is a $250 gift card to Macy's. Third place prize is 4 Six Flags White Water season passes. Fourth place prize is an Amazon Kindle Fire and fifth place prize is a $150 Publix gift card.
