SKOKIE, Ill., Sept. 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- TimberTech®, a premier brand of low-maintenance, high quality and durable outdoor building products, is constantly working to stay ahead of both consumer and industry trends. Builders and homeowners consistently rely on the brand's premium decking and railing products—which are built to stand up to harsh weather and resist stains, scratches, mold and moisture—to construct their outdoor living spaces.
TimberTech teamed with industry experts George Gehringer and Karen Pearlstein of Metaphor LLC, a design consultancy studio and manufacturer of architectural planters and outdoor decor, to reveal the top color trends taking over the decking industry in regions across the U.S.
"TimberTech has always been at the forefront of the decking industry because of our wide variety of quality products. To ensure that we have the right color options available, we review our collections to add new colors that best meet personal preferences across the U.S.," said Julia Fitzgerald, TimberTech's chief marketing officer. "Even though all of our TimberTech colors are well received, we're currently finding that more and more consumers are selecting darker colors for their decks, and this year we have seen they're increasingly purchasing gray options from our collections."
Along with TimberTech, Gehringer identifies the top colors trending across the country:
- Central Region: Beiges and mid-tone browns tend to be dominant in the Central region of the U.S. That's why decking from TimberTech's Mocha from the Legacy Collection is a top seller among consumers. Its warm, rich color and hand-scraped, artisan-look complement any home regardless of its exterior design.
- Western Region: Mid-tone and darker browns are more popular in the Western region of the country, like the Antique Palm color from TimberTech's new Tropical Collection. Its saturated tones create a bold aesthetic that's sure to stand out in backyards.
- Northeast Region: Gray is dominant in the Northeast, with the most popular color being Silver Maple from TimberTech's Terrain Collection. However, as decking trends shift to darker colors, the brand's new Tropical Collection's Amazon Mist is gaining traction among consumers in the region.
- Mid-Atlantic and Southern Regions: Gray has also been gaining popularity across the Mid-Atlantic and South because it is a nice contrast to the frequently used white siding across these regions. However, mid-tone browns like TimberTech's Brown Oak from the Terrain Collection are still the most popular.
"Since TimberTech Decking is available in more than a dozen popular colors and several surface textures, anyone in the market for a new deck is sure to find something that meets their needs, no matter what region they call home," said Fitzgerald.
