Timberland Returns to the Sundance Film Festival for 2010
Iconic Lifestyle Brand Returns for Second Year as Official Footwear and Outerwear of Renowned Festival
STRATHAM, N.H., Jan. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Timberland Company will return to the world-renowned Sundance Film Festival for its second year as the Official Footwear and Outerwear Sponsor. This year's Festival will take place in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden and Sundance, Utah from January 21 - 31.
In its sponsorship role, the brand will provide winter boots and exclusive, co-branded Timberland® / Sundance Film Festival jackets for over 300 Festival filmmakers and programming team members, as well as gloves for over 2,000 Festival volunteers, offering much-needed protection from the winter elements. Timberland will also lend support to the Festival's on-site environmental efforts by sponsoring walking maps and transit signage throughout Park City, promoting eco-conscious modes of transportation that will help alleviate road congestion and smog emissions.
"At Timberland, we are passionate about the outdoors and protecting it for future generations. Right down to our logo -- a tree. It's in our roots, it's who we are," said Theresa Palermo, Senior Director of North American Marketing for Timberland. "The Sundance Film Festival presents a unique opportunity for us to showcase our products - which are perfect for Utah's wintry landscape - while also sharing in the Festival's commitment to supporting forward-thinking artists and preserving the environment."
Timberland's sponsorship will afford significant on-site brand awareness and consumer interaction during the Festival this year, even providing an opportunity to give consumers a sneak peek at the brand's Fall 2010 premium footwear and outerwear lines - including its popular Earthkeepers(TM) line of boots for men and women, which contain a variety of recycled materials. For the first time ever, Timberland will host an on-site "Timberland Retreat" lounge, where consumers can learn more about the brand's Earthkeepers(TM) products and the company's commitment to preserving the environment.
Festivalgoers can visit the Timberland Retreat for daily giveaways including multiple head-to-toe wardrobes and gift certificates, and accessories such as organic cotton tote bags, backpacks, stainless-steel tumblers and more. The Timberland Retreat will be located in a brand-new Festival sponsor area on Heber Avenue (at Main Street), in the "Lower Main" stretch of downtown Park City, open daily from 10 am - 6 pm.
In addition to its on-site presence, during the 2009 holiday season Timberland hosted an online and in-store sweepstakes for a trip to the 2010 Sundance Film Festival. The lucky winner and a guest are receiving round-trip flights and lodging, Timberland® Earthkeepers(TM) gear, and tickets to film screenings.
For those fans unable to attend this year's Festival: Timberland hasn't forgotten you. In an effort to keep people up-to-date on the latest from Sundance, Timberland will provide on-site videos, "Man-on-the-Street" interviews, photos and posts throughout the Festival so that fans don't miss a beat.
