Timberland Opens New Doors in The Big Apple
Premium outdoor brand brings its New England heritage to Herald Square
STRATHAM, N.H., May 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Timberland Company today announced details about its newest retail location in New York, at 28 West 34th Street between 5th & 6th Avenues near Herald Square. Doors open on Friday, May 27 at 9:30 am, giving New Yorkers expanded access to the brand's authentic outdoor heritage and industry-leading approach to sustainability.
"We've enjoyed great success at our 474 Broadway location since it opened in 2009, and are happy for the opportunity to grow our presence in one of the greatest cities in the world," said John Pazzani, vice president of retail and e-commerce for Timberland. "New York is filled with people who love the outdoors and the lifestyle it embodies, whether they're in the city or on a weekend getaway. At the new Herald Square location, they'll be able to find all the Timberland® gear they need to explore, wherever their adventures take them."
In step with Timberland® stores around the world, the new 4,400 sq. foot space – encompassing retail space on the main level and a stockroom below – is designed to reflect the company's long-standing commitment to sustainability, through the use of recycled materials and other eco-conscious building practices. Build-out features include reclaimed wood and industrial machinery (used for table bases); recycled stoneware floor tiles; FSC certified woods; reduced-wattage LED lighting; Energy Star-eligible equipment and appliances; low volatile organic compound (VOC) paints; and water-conserving plumbing fixtures. The space also features a unique, custom mural celebrating "green spaces" throughout New York City.
The 28 West 34th Street location will offer outdoor apparel, accessories and footwear for men, women and kids, including the brand's popular Earthkeepers® collection of shoes and boots made from eco-conscious materials. New Yorkers will also have access to the latest outdoor performance footwear and elite collections, including Timberland Boot Company® and the Abington Collection. In addition, Timberland is designing an assortment of New York-inspired footwear and t-shirts exclusively for the Herald Square store.
The Herald Square store joins existing Timberland® specialty retail locations at 474 Broadway in SoHo, Garden City and White Plains, as well as several outlet stores in the surrounding area, including Woodbury Commons. This store opening is part of a broader expansion effort underway for 2011, which to date has included Boston (March 17) and San Francisco (April 29), with others being planned for later in the year in key markets.
The store is located at 28 West 34th Street (between 5th & 6th Avenues), New York, NY 10001. Store phone: (212) 564-5921. Hours: Monday – Saturday, 9:30 am – 9:00 pm; Sunday 11 am – 7 pm.
