Tigo Energy® Introduces New Maximizer® Solution Designed for Higher Voltage, Higher-Power Solar Modules
Efficient Architecture of Tigo Energy Maximizer Solution Enables Management of up to 350 Watts of Power Per Solar Module
SILICON VALLEY, Calif., July 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Tigo Energy®, the market leader in DC output maximization for photovoltaic (PV) solar installations, today introduced a new Tigo Energy Module Maximizer® specifically designed for recently introduced higher power solar modules.
The Tigo Energy Maximizer Solution enables owners of PV projects of any size -- residential, commercial or utility scale -- to increase power production by reducing the effects of shade, dust, clouds and uneven temperature on system performance. The new 350-Watt Module Maximizer ES75 can harvest the most energy possible from new high efficiency mono-crystalline module architectures such as the E19 Series from SunPower Corporation* (96 cell, 19% efficient solar modules capable of producing in excess of 320W). By using the Module Maximizer with high-output modules, system designers can achieve the value of the solution at an unprecedentedly low cost per Watt-peak (Wp). Due to the Tigo Energy Module Maximizer's industry-leading statistical efficiency of 99.5%, the ES75 can produce optimal performance without dissipating extra heat on or near the solar module.
"As a result of breakthroughs in solar cell technology, PV consumers are benefitting from higher power mono and poly-crystalline modules which maximize the output of a confined rooftop," said Ron Hadar, COO and President of Tigo Energy. "The addition of the ES75 will give system designers more flexibility to select the right module for any application and still enjoy the benefits of the Tigo Energy solution."
Tigo Energy's flagship ES50 solution that is shipping monthly volumes in excess of 10MW already supports, and is commonly used with, 230W and 280W poly modules. By contrast, today's leading micro-inverters support only up to 215 Watt modules, reducing design flexibility and limiting system production output on the sunniest of days (so called "power clipping"). System architects and project installers can select Tigo Energy and provide cost-effective power output maximization, enhanced safety and module level system management for systems of every size and location.
The Tigo Energy Maximizer Solution also delivers accurate data and analysis at the module level to keep long-term system operations at peak performance while enhancing safety of rooftop PV systems. Tigo Energy's low part-count, unsurpassed efficiency and high reliability bring the benefits of distributed electronics to PV system owners in a more cost-effective manner than deploying micro-inverters.
PV installers worldwide have adopted the Tigo Energy solution for new installations and for retrofit of existing sites that are underperforming. In response to the sharp rise in demand, Tigo Energy has doubled production and sales in past quarters and is projected to continue to do so throughout this year. The Tigo Energy Module Maximizer ES75 is certified for use in all major solar markets and is available immediately from leading PV distributors across North America, Europe, Middle East, Japan and Asia (http://www.tigoenergy.com/distributors.php).
"Using a Module Maximizer with 280W poly modules has helped us design high-capacity rooftop systems with a low cost per Watt," said Kevin Lampo, Design Manager at SunLion Energy Systems. "Tigo Energy's expanding product offerings will ensure we continue to have the flexibility to use the latest advancements in new module technology."
With power electronics and software, the Tigo Energy Maximizer Solution boosts the output of solar arrays by implementing maximum power point control at the module level. PV system developers and owners also benefit from Tigo Energy's comprehensive panel-level monitoring and analytics, along with advanced safety features – providing rapid payback and higher overall financial returns.
