TickPick Honors Medal of Honor Recipients and Supports Warrior Rising at SmartFan Pregame Party Before the Big Game
Pregame Event to Feature Food, Drinks and Entertainment for Football's Biggest Fans
NEW YORK, Jan. 30, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- TickPick, the no-fee ticket marketplace that is transforming the industry, announced Tuesday it is offering football fans a fun afternoon of food drink, and entertainment at the TickPick SmartFan Pregame Party in Minneapolis Feb. 4. from 1-4 p.m. central.
TickPick is partnering with Warrior Rising, a nonprofit organization that offers essential support for veteran entrepreneurs, for the event. Both organizations will recognize two Medal of Honor recipients during the event: Captain Flo Groberg and Master Sergeant First Class Leroy Petry, who both served tours in Afghanistan.
"We're foremost thrilled to partner with Warrior Rising and to recognize both Captain Groberg and Master Sergeant First Class Petry for their service to this great country," co-CEO and cofounder Brett Goldberg said. "Warrior Rising's mission is critical for giving back to those who have provided us all with so very much. They provide veterans with employment opportunities and funding for sustainable entrepreneurial businesses. We're honored to have these men and representatives from Warrior Rising to join us at our pregame party."
Master Sergeant First Class Petry is currently assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 75th Ranger Regiment at Fort Benning, Ga. with duties as a liaison officer for the United States Special Operations Command Care Coalition — Northwest Region, providing oversight to wounded warriors, ill and injured service members and their families.
Captain Groberg was awarded the Medal of Honor for personal acts of valor above and beyond the call of duty, for his actions on Aug. 8, 2012 in Afghanistan. He is the 19th recipient of the Medal of Honor and first foreign-born recipient since the end of the Vietnam War and the 10th living recipient. President Barack Obama awarded the Medal of Honor to Groberg on Nov. 12, 2015 at a ceremony at the White House.
"We designed our pregame party to provide our biggest fans a way to get hyped for the Big Game with the food, drinks, and games that they love," Goldberg said. "Tickets to the game are already very expensive, and fans don't need to pay another $700 for a tailgate when they can join us and some amazing veterans."
"I want to recognize TickPick for their incredible show of support to Warrior Rising," Warrior Rising Advisory Board Member Nate Boyer said. "Our nation's warriors, our brothers and sisters, return home at some point and ask themselves the same question, 'Now What?' It only makes sense for veterans to leverage their strength, discipline, and understanding of hard work towards a new mission — creating their own businesses. Warrior Rising was designed to give veterans a purpose again through creating sustainable businesses, hiring veterans, and earning financial freedom. We are proud to partner with TickPick because they are an organization that understands veterans."
Boyer is a former Green Beret, world traveler, philanthropist, community leader and former team member of the NFL's Seattle Seahawks.
"Veterans know the definition of hard work," Groberg, also an advisory board member of Warrior Rising, said. "They possess all of the intangible traits necessary to continue to be leaders of men in the civilian, corporate sector. Warrior Rising provides a hand up to assist our veterans with business training, mentorship, and economic assistance to create or even accelerate their business. Warrior Rising is helping veterans in the most effective way possible; they are helping them help themselves. We are looking forward to kicking off the Big Game weekend with TickPick at the SmartFan Pregame Party."
TickPick is the industry's only secondary ticket marketplace without buyer fees. It offers a simplified transaction without hidden fees or commissions where sellers pay a flat 10% fee, a notable contrast to the 25% or more in total fees charged by TickPick competitors.
About TickPick:
Founded in 2011, TickPick is reshaping the secondary event ticket marketplace with its no-fees approach. The company does not charge any fees for buyers, setting it apart from competitive firms, which charge steep transaction fees. It also leverages its algorithms to look at the price/value ratio for tickets, and then offers value grading for buyers so they can get the optimal experience for their money. Users can also bid on tickets in a process that is similar to financial markets where supply and demand creates a more efficient marketplace.
The company was recently named a Technology Fast 500 award winner for 2017, a Deloitte-sponsored award for the fastest growing technology, media, telecommunications, life sciences and energy tech companies in North America. TickPick was also selected as a Crain's New York Business Fast 50.
TickPick was founded by co-CEO's Christopher O'Brien and Brett Goldberg who saw inefficiencies in the ticket marketplace and decided to build a more transparent and cost-effective solution. For more information, visit www.tickpick.com.
