ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill., June 21, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- TicketsNow.com, a leading online resale marketplace for event tickets, saw "Idol" fans out-purchase all other concert fans as well as fans of baseball's most storied franchises. American Idols LIVE! is the top-selling event on the TicketsNow Entertainment Index for May.
The American Idols Live! Tour 2011, which kicks off July 6 in Salt Lake City, has more than 40 dates on the calendar and is already seeing premium tickets at some venues command more than $2,500.
Baseball fans continued to flock to the ballparks in May as all top five sellers in the Sports category were baseball teams. The New York Yankees, San Francisco Giants, Atlanta Braves, Chicago Cubs, and Boston Red Sox captured the top spots.
Wicked continues to reign as the leader in Theater ticket sales; although the wildly popular, and 2011 Tony Award winner for Best Musical, The Book of Mormon, is steadily closing the gap.
