NEW YORK, Oct. 4, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The gastronomic gathering that is the Food Network & Cooking Channel New York City Wine & Food Festival presented by Capital One (NYCWFF) returns to the Big Apple for its 11th edition October 11 – 14 with more than 75 events taking place across New York. Since its inception, the Festival's mission to EAT. DRINK. END HUNGER. has raised more than $11 million to benefit the hunger-relief organizations No Kid Hungry® and Food Bank For New York City, due, in part, to the popularity of its signature tasting events that take place throughout the weekend.
"This year's signature events offer a variety of opportunities for fans and the industry to come together and celebrate," noted Festival founder and director Lee Brian Schrager, who also serves as senior vice president of communications & corporate social responsibility for Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits. "In addition to a line-up anchored by renowned chefs and beloved culinary personalities, the events also feature chart-topping musical talent and lifestyle icons."
The opening event for this year's Festival is a celebration honoring women who are changing the game both in and out of the kitchen. This kick-off, Supper is Served: A Tasting featuring Tarana Burke, Giada De Laurentiis, Alex Guarnaschelli, Katie Lee, Rachael Ray and Friends, takes place on Thursday, October 11 on the rooftop of Pier 92 and features performances by artist Natasha Bedingfield, known for her hits "Pocketful of Sunshine" and "Unwritten", and Billboard country chart-topper and multi-time Grammy Award nominee Martina McBride. This signature tasting features dishes from more than 25 female chefs, accented by wine, beer and spirits to keep guests swaying to the beat of the music throughout the evening.
The events continue on the rooftop of Pier 92, including the fan-favorite Blue Moon Burger Bash presented by Pat LaFrieda Meats hosted by Rachael Rayon Friday, October 12. New York City's top chefs will battle it out for burger supremacy – with both the Blue Moon People's Choice Award and Pat LaFrieda's 2018 NYCWFF Burger Bash® Champion title, as judged by a panel including David Burtka and Neil Patrick Harris, up for grabs. On Saturday, October 13Food Network's Rooftop Birthday Party hosted by Alton Brown, Giada De Laurentiis, Bobby Flay and Ina Gartenwill delight fans. Families can also enjoy a Sunday barbecue on October 14 at Coca-Cola Backyard BBQpresented by National Beef & Pat LaFrieda Meats hosted by Billy Durney and Pat LaFrieda.
The Festival's marquee culinary playground comes to life at the Grand Tasting presented by ShopRite on Saturday, October 13 and Sunday, October 14 at Pier 94. Culinary Demonstrations presented by Capital One® at the event feature fan-favorite Food Network and Cooking Channel personalities, including Food Network Star Season 14 Winner Christian Petroni, plus lifestyle personalities like Martina McBride, Jessie James Decker and Nathan Turner. Once again, the Culinary Demonstrations Only ticket provides access for those under 21 years of age to the star-studded demonstrations and featured Book Signings by TŪL Exclusively for Office Depot® Office Max®.
