Spectators may also visit the Federal and Confederate camps, explore living history exhibits on how the battle affected soldiers, and male and female civilians, slaves, and freed African Americans. Food, water, the official souvenir program, memorabilia and period clothing, leather goods and collectables will be available for purchase.
According to Ann Marie Maher: Executive Director of Discover Prince William & Manassas, the area's tourism marketing agency, which has organized the reenactment and marketed the more than 40 events over the four-day period, "The reenactment is definitely a once in a lifetime event. We are expecting more than 8,712 re-enactors from across the U.S. Canada, UK, Germany, and beyond. There will be 350 horses, cannon and replica firearms and sabers. The re-enactors are a national treasure volunteering their time and services to bring history to life," said Ms. Maher.
"We are so appreciative of the support of Prince William County, the Snyder Family, our sponsors, partners, volunteers and employees. Just last week Prince William Hospital announced it is donating 35,000 bottles of water for the event which will be provided at no cost to attendees."
It is suggested that spectators wear a hat, sunscreen, sneakers or shoes (not sandals) and bring insect repellent for their comfort. Shuttles will run continuously throughout the day from 6:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. to and from Jiffy Lube Live.
