Tianjin Economic Development Area Holds Ceremony to Mark the Founding of the TEDA Sustainable Development Consortium
TIANJIN, China, June 23 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Recently, a ceremony to mark the founding of the TEDA Sustainable Development Consortium was held at the Renaissance Tianjin TEDA Convention Centre Hotel. Many leaders attended the event, including Karen Ellemann, Danish Minister for the Environment; Soren Jacobsen, deputy ambassador and acting ambassador of the Danish embassy in China; Zheng Weiming, Tianjin Bohai New Area District Administrative Committee Deputy Director; Miao Jiaxing, bureau chief of the Bohai New Area Environmental Protection and City Beautification Bureau, and Zhang Jun, deputy director of the Tianjin Economic Development Area Administrative Committee.
The TEDA Sustainable Development Consortium was jointly founded by the Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area Administrative Committee and the Danish Embassy in the People's Republic of China. Leveraging the willingness of independent and self-governing enterprises to come together in exchange and collaboration, the committee and embassy aim to establish a platform through which member enterprises can enter into deep dialogues with the Development Area Administrative Committee, to explore important questions of environmental protection and ecology that affect society, enterprises, and communities, such as "Here in TEDA, how can make the idea of green energy a reality ... "
The consortium does not collect any fees from member enterprises, and plans to hold six meetings a year with members. Each meeting will be hosted by one of the member enterprises. The TEDA Low Carbon Promotion Center will serve as the administrative home base for the consortium, and will provide the consortium with support in its day-to-day activities and affairs. Only about twenty member enterprises will be inducted at the ceremony marking the founding of the consortium, in order to ensure the establishment of a close-knit team. Through its model of exchange and cooperation, the consortium hopes to bring greater economic and societal benefits to the area.
