TI strengthens ADAS portfolio with the introduction of latest processor in TDA family
New TDA2Eco processors expand 3-D surround view applications for entry to mid-level vehicles
New TDA2Eco processors expand 3-D surround view applications for entry to mid-level vehicles
DALLAS, Oct. 27, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Texas Instruments (TI) (NASDAQ: TXN) is extending its Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) portfolio, further enabling car manufacturers to develop more advanced surround view systems in entry- to mid-level vehicles. The newest members of the automotive system-on-chip (SoC) family, the TDA2Eco processors, are developed on the same heterogeneous, scalable architecture as other TDA devices providing automotive manufacturers with the optimal mix of performance, low power and ADAS vision analytics.
Optimized solution for surround view
Developed for optimized 3-D surround view applications, the TDA2Eco is a drop-in replacement for the TDA2 in the entry- to mid-level surround view solution, providing reduction in power, optimized performance and bill-of-materials (BOM). It also integrates a host of peripherals such as CAN, Gigabit Ethernet AVB and interfaces to display modules. The TDA2Eco SoC can support up to eight cameras through parallel, serial and CSI-2 interfaces, which are compatible with TI's FPD-Link III serializers to provide a complete solution for surround view systems. The TDA2Eco SoC comes complete with support for safety and production-ready software from third-party providers. TI's optimized BOM includes companion parts such as a TPS65917-Q1 power management integrated circuit (PMIC) and the LM53603-Q1 DC/DC converter.
TDA family continues to scale automotive investment
TI's new TDA2Eco System-on-Chip (SoC) incorporates a heterogeneous, scalable architecture that includes TI's fixed- and floating-point TMS320C66x digital signal processor (DSP) generation core, ARM® Cortex®-A15 MPCore™ and quad-Cortex-M4 processors to develop surround view applications for a broader set of cars at a lower cost. The integration of a video accelerator for decoding multiple video streams over an Ethernet AVB network and Car Black Box (CarBB) support, along with graphics accelerators for rendering virtual views, enable a 3-D viewing experience.
"Green Hills Software is pleased to be supporting TI's latest automotive SoC innovation that enables the use of a common software and hardware platform for a range of ADAS requirements like surround view and park assist functions," said Dan Mender, VP, business development, Green Hills Software. "The TDA2Eco, when combined with Green Hills safety and security-certified INTEGRITY® RTOS, and our decade of helping customers build the highest rated safety and security systems possible, enable automotive OEM's and Tier 1's to develop the most advanced 3D surround view solutions for entry- to mid-level vehicles."
"For more than a decade, QNX and TI have collaborated on ground-breaking automotive solutions that enhance the driving experience," said Andrew Poliak, global director of business development at QNX Software Systems, a BlackBerry subsidiary. "The proven reliability and ISO 26262 compliance of the QNX® OS for Safety, combined with the advanced graphics capabilities of the TDA2Eco, will help our joint customers address the stringent requirements of 3D surround view and park-assist systems in entry- to mid-level vehicles."
TDA surround view portfolio
In TI's ADAS processor portfolio, the TDA SoC family has a processor to meet every range of surround view system needs:
Third ADAS processor quickly brings applications to the road
The TDA2Eco is TI's third product in two years to be delivered to the automotive community to meet the fast changing needs of both car manufactures and consumers. TI has been delivering the market with the technology to develop park assist and surround view applications since 2006, and currently has surround view systems in automobiles in all regions around the world.
Extending TI's highly integrated and scalable family of automotive processors, the TDAxx SoC is a highly optimized and scalable family of devices designed to meet the requirements of leading ADAS. The TDAxx family enables broad ADAS applications in today's automobile by integrating an optimal mix of performance, low power and ADAS vision analytics processing that aims to facilitate a more autonomous and collision-free driving experience.
