Its superior flow and pressure capability — rated at 450 liters per hour at 13.5 volts and 40 psi — outperforms all currently available high-performance in-tank fuel pumps. It supports engines over 500 hp, has been validated to OE specifications and is fully E85 compatible.
"This is a first-of-its-kind, high-performance, high-flow fuel pump with full E85/flex-fuel compatibility," said Doug Thomson, North America aftermarket director, TI Automotive. "It will provide our customers with a level of flexibility that to date had not been available in a replacement application."
The new fuel pump is based on the innovative design of the DCSS 39/50, which earned TI Automotive the 2010 Automotive News PACE Award, and features a single impeller with two parallel rows of turbine blades. The blades feed two high-pressure pumping channels, as opposed to a conventional single-stage pump that uses an impeller with a single row of blades at its outer edge. This innovative design results in improved hot fuel flow, as well as minimal noise and current use, resulting in efficiency that's 20 percent higher than conventional pumps.
The DCSS 39/50 requires modifications to system wiring, fuel lines and the fuel module, and should be professionally installed.
