Thycotic Increases Flexibility of Privileged Account Management with Secret Server 8.8
Privileged Account Management Solution Now Supports Secure Shell Keys and Hardware Security Modules
WASHINGTON, Feb. 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Thycotic, a provider of smart and effective privileged account management solutions for global organizations, today announced the release of the newest version of its flagship solution, Secret Server. Secret Server 8.8 includes improved support for Secure Shell (SSH) keys, allowing customers with large Linux or UNIX environments or network equipment to more easily manage all of their organization's secrets regardless of the platform each user is running. The new version of Secret Server also includes revamped support for security-conscious customers using hardware security modules (HSM) to manage digital keys.
By giving IT administrators the power to manage privileged accounts on a wider variety of machines, Secret Server now helps customers to better secure the sensitive credentials critical to their organization's operations and eliminates the need to have disparate security protocols for employees working in different environments. Added support for network HSMs also increases flexibility when customers deploy Secret Server on their own unique networks, allowing them to achieve the security benefits offered by the product without having to make concessions due to the configuration of their existing infrastructure.
"Thycotic is a reliable and agile partner in identity management," said Peter Koch, system administrator for Thycotic customer Dataport. "With the latest release of Secret Server, Thycotic supports one of the best ways of storing your key material – a network HSM. The smart interface allows configuration in a matter of minutes."
Thycotic has also expanded Secret Server's scripting capabilities, making it easier for customers to manage password changes across multiple platforms including Windows, Linux and UNIX. Usability has been enhanced in Secret Server with the addition of dashboard widgets that allow administrators to customize their view into their organization's privileged accounts and to more easily address common tasks such as access approval. Access approval capabilities have also been enhanced to allow managers to establish specific dates and times when users will be granted access to a particular secret managed by the solution, increasing flexibility for employees working during off-hours.
"With this version of Secret Server, we've doubled down on our commitment to providing our customers with the features necessary to ensure that the security of their privileged account passwords is as strong as it can be, all while requiring minimal effort on the administrator's end," said Jonathan Cogley, CEO and founder of Thycotic. "The new updates in 8.8 directly address feedback that we have received from existing customers looking to get the most out of Secret Server without needing to deploy additional IT resources to improve security."
