WASHINGTON, March 16, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Thycotic, a provider of privileged account management (PAM) solutions for more than 3,500 organizations worldwide, today announced the release of Password Reset Server 5.0. Through its updated user interface (UI) and offline reset capabilities, Password Reset Server 5.0 will create an overall enhanced mobile experience for its users. Mobile access gives users another option for self-service password resets if they are locked out of their computer.
Offline reset allows administrators to install an application on each user's computer that integrates with the Windows Logon process. Users can access it without even logging into their machine. If the machine cannot contact the domain, Password Reset Server 5.0 provides an option to do the reset offline. The logon integration resets the user's password on their computer, even if it doesn't have internet access. Therefore, the user can log into the machine without connecting to the domain.
"The introduction of offline reset is significant as it covers scenarios where a domain user takes their laptop offline and forgets their password. With the updates in Password Reset Server 5.0, the help desk, or end user, can receive an offline reset code for their computer which can be entered into their machine, allowing the password to be used as normal," said Ben Yoder, Product Manager at Thycotic. "Additionally, the updated UI in Password Reset Server 5.0 is more responsive than ever before, providing a better mobile experience for end user resets and enrollment. Mobile experience is key for the offline reset scenario, since the only internet access many users will have will be from their smartphone or tablet."
Password Reset Server 5.0 enables end-users to securely reset their Active Directory (AD) and Office 365 passwords from a web portal or Windows Logon screen. IT admins and security teams can add custom end-user password security policies and permit users to update their AD attributes, such as address and phone numbers through the portal.
