Through The Kids In Need Foundation, Target and Yoobi to Donate Up To $6.5 Million in Backpacks and School Supplies to Students In Need
MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 22, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Kids In Need Foundation (KINF) is proud to partner with Target and Yoobi to provide backpacks filled with school supplies to children in need across the United States for the 2017-2018 school year.
Now through Sept. 9, each time an individual "likes" or shares Target's Back to School Prep for Success video on Facebook, a donation will be made to KINF to provide backpacks filled with supplies to students, with a total donation value of up to $6.5 million*.
The Kids In Need Foundation ensures that every child is prepared to learn and succeed by providing free school supplies nationally to students most in need. In their 22-year history, they have distributed more than $900 million in supplies to children who would otherwise go without.
"We want to thank Target and Yoobi for helping us improve the educational experience for students most in need, and we are confident this initiative will make a huge impact in the lives of children across the country," said Dave Smith, executive director of The Kids In Need Foundation. "When students are prepared for school, they perform better in the classroom, and they have the confidence they need to succeed in all aspects of life. In fact, a KINF-sponsored survey of 10,000 teachers said when students have the supplies they need, there is a more equal learning environment, increased classroom participation, and increased homework completion rates."

* Support offered is a combination of cash and merchandise enabling The Kids In Need Foundation, www.kinf.org, to provide a backpack of supplies to help a student. For each reaction (like, love, sad, etc.) or share of Target's video, Target will donate cash to The Kids In Need Foundation (KINF), with an average value of $6.98, enabling KINF to purchase backpacks and school supplies; plus, when KINF acquires backpacks/supplies from Yoobi, Yoobi will include additional supplies for free, thereby increasing the support for KINF. Each backpack will contain a variety of supplies, typically comprising 1 folder, 2 notebooks, 2 packages of pencils, 1 package of markers, 1 package of colored pencils, 1 pair of scissors, 3 glue sticks, 1 package of crayons, 1 pencil pouch, 1 ruler, 2 erasers, and 1 pencil sharpener. Actual supplies may vary by community. Minimum overall support value [of both cash and Yoobi supplies] $1 million; maximum $6.5 million. Approximate average cost to supply each filled backpack is $9.00. Offer valid August 2- September 9, 2017, or until maximum is reached. For more information visit [www.target.com/prepforsuccess]
