Three Sutter-affiliated Hospitals Named Among Best Hospitals in U.S. News and World Report Metro Rankings
SACRAMENTO, Calif., July 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Three Sutter Health-affiliated hospitals were named as among the top hospitals in their regions by U.S. News & World Report.
Sacramento Metro Area
Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento
- Ranked third overall in the Sacramento region.
- U.S. News and World Report rated these three other specialty programs "high performing": gynecology, neurology and neurosurgery, and orthopedics.
- This is the second year Sutter Medical Center has ranked among the top three hospitals in the Sacramento region.
San Francisco Metro Area
California Pacific Medical Center, San Francisco
- Ranked fourth overall in the San Francisco region.
- U.S. News and World Report rated these five other specialty programs "high performing": cancer, gastroenterology, nephrology, neurology & neurosurgery, orthopedics
Alta Bates Summit Medical Center, Oakland
- Ranked fifth overall in the San Francisco region.
- U.S. News and World Report rated these four other specialty programs "high performing": ear, nose & throat, gastroenterology, orthopedics and urology.
U.S. News and World Report created its Best Hospitals list more than 20 years ago. This year, the national publication released its first-ever Metro Area Rankings of Best Hospitals. According to U.S. News and World report, hospitals ranked in their metro area scored in the top 25 percent among peers in at least one of 16 medical specialties.
