Three Pennsylvania Regional Networking Opportunities for Small Diverse -, Small - Businesses Interested in Job Order Contracting Announced
HARRISBURG, Pa., Aug. 12, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Small Diverse Businesses (SDBs) and Small Businesses (SBs) interested in sub-contractor opportunities through Job Order Contracting, or JOC, as construction contractors, construction suppliers and design professionals are encouraged to attend regional networking opportunities arranged by the Pennsylvania Department of General Services to put SDBs and SBs in direct contact with prime contractors to market their goods and services.
The JOC system consists of a prime contractor for general contractor, HVAC (mechanical), electric and plumbing services in each region – Eastern, Central and Western – for small projects with a value of $300,000.000 or less. The JOC system is intended to create the use of small diverse and small business subcontractors, design professionals, and suppliers based on the volume of projects that are estimated in each region.
The department is making every effort to raise the awareness of small diverse and small businesses to the benefits of the subcontractor opportunities available through Job Order Contracting. Projects have already been lined up in each region and the networking fair is possibly the best way to connect with prime contractors and promote the goods and services the SDBs and SBs provide.
DGS estimates there are approximately 62 projects worth a total nearly $8.4 million statewide. Regionally, there are 32 projects in the Eastern region worth more than $4.4 million; 16 projects in the Central region worth nearly 2.4 million; and 14 projects worth nearly $1.6 million.
