Three New Members Named to Board of PA Family Support Alliance
HARRISBURG, Pa., Feb. 2 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ --The Pennsylvania Family Support Alliance has added three new members to its board of directors.
The new members are:
- Dr. Leena S. Dev of Malvern, a staff pediatrician and child abuse pediatrician at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in Philadelphia.
- Barry Stephen Ramper II of Harrisburg, president and CEO of the Homeland Center, a senior care residential facility located in Harrisburg.
- Richard D. Steele of Elysburg, acting director of policy and program development of the Pennsylvania Juvenile Court Judges Commission.
PFSA works through schools, early childhood education centers, religious institutions, and social service agencies to teach "mandated reporters" to recognize the signs of child abuse and neglect and how to appropriately report such cases.
Mandated reporters are people who frequently come into contact with children in the course of performing their jobs and are required by law to report abuse and neglect. They include doctors and nurses, health and social service workers, teachers and school employees, law enforcement authorities, and members of the clergy.
PFSA also works with affiliated member agencies across Pennsylvania to provide information, educational materials, and programs that teach and support good parenting practices.
PFSA presented 294 training sessions on reporting child abuse and neglect throughout Pennsylvania during its 2008-09 program year. These sessions provided face-to-face training for 7,880 mandated reporters.
