Three New Education Establishments in the UK Select Canvas as New Virtual Learning Environment
Momentum builds for Canvas as it signs Highbury College, Portsmouth, Leadership Foundation for Higher Education and King Alfred School, London
LONDON, Oct. 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Highbury College, Portsmouth, Leadership Foundation for Higher Education (LFHE) and King Alfred School, London have all selected Canvas by Instructure as their virtual learning environment (VLE). The institutions have all signed up to the software-as-a-service solution in the past month after searching for a better learning experience than their legacy systems.
During the vetting process, Highbury College, LFHE and King Alfred conducted comprehensive analyses, evaluating various VLE options, leading to their selection of Canvas. The institutions prioritised a reliable learning platform, which could promise ease-of-use and smooth integration into their existing systems, choosing Canvas based on its flexibility to meet diverse needs and for the modernised experience it delivers.
Explaining why Highbury College selected Canvas, Stella Mbubaegbu CBE, Principal & Chief Executive Highbury College commented:
"At Highbury, we recognise the impact that digital technologies can have on the way you learn – enabling personalised education programmes and boosting classroom engagement. With our tutors demanding technologies that boast ease-of-use and reliable systems, Highbury College wanted a VLE that people would understand, reducing barriers to adoption among tutors.
"Brought to our attention by a number of leading institutions that had signed with Instructure, the Canvas VLE seemed an obvious choice to continue our commitment to transforming education programmes through investment in IT."
Director EMEA at Instructure, Kenny Nicholl, commented: "As institutions search for the next generation in learning platforms, we are delighted to be working with Highbury College, the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education and King Alfred School to deliver a VLE that makes teaching and learning easier.
"Canvas is making real inroads to support institutions and schools that have their sights set on delivering fit for purpose learning experiences. These latest customer signings branch across all three levels of education, reflecting greater awareness of Canvas across the education sector as more and more institutions recognise that more intuitive digital tools will be the catalyst for a more personalised learning experience," he continued.
Instructure is constantly innovating to meet the demands of its growing client base. The company recently introduced Canvas Commons, its new learning object repository, to enable shared content and collaboration across the Canvas cloud. This was developed to meet popular demand from teachers and lecturers to discover lesson plans, assignments, quizzes and even full courses that are free and easy to incorporate into the Canvas VLE.
Instructure launched Canvas in February 2011 and has since attracted more than 1,000 institutions. It opened its London office in March 2014, and today it services more than 16 million teachers and students from around the world, ranging from further education colleges to leading universities.
