SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif., Jan. 16, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- CrossFit, Inc. today announced three new events officially sanctioned to invite athletes to the 2020 CrossFit Games, expanding the 2019-2020 season calendar as outlined in previous event announcements.
Individual and team athletes will take the competition floor at newly-sanctioned CrossFit competitions in Dublin, Ireland; Vancouver, Canada; and Quebec, Canada. The champions of the men's, women's, and team competition at each event will receive invitations to compete at the 2020 CrossFit Games in Madison, Wisconsin.
"As the CrossFit Games season expands internationally, so does the opportunity for CrossFit, Inc. to support our affiliates," said CrossFit CEO Jeff Cain. "These sanctioned events recognize the histories and individual character of a wide variety of CrossFit communities around the world."
CrossFit Filthy 150
In November 2019, the Emerald Isle will welcome CrossFit competitors and fans from around the world. The CrossFit Filthy 150 anticipates hosting over 3000 CrossFit competitors and spectators in Dublin, Ireland, to celebrate "fitness, teamwork, and the will to overcome," in the words of event director Jamie Lawlor. "We can't wait for everyone to experience the famous Irish welcome and perform in front of the best sports fans on the planet."
CrossFit Atlas Games
In March 2020, the spotlight will turn to Quebec, Canada on the road to the CrossFit Games. "The Atlas Games were created with one goal in mind: to provide a world-class competition experience for athletes, judges, and volunteers," said event director Alexis Leblanc-Bazinet. "It is an honour and privilege to now offer that opportunity alongside CrossFit, Inc." Building on its deep roots in the Canadian CrossFit community, this Sanctionals™ event will showcase local, national, and international athletes.
Canada West CrossFit Championship
Finally, in June 2020, athletes will take the competition floor at the Canada West CrossFit Championship in Vancouver, Canada. Previously known as the CanWest Games, this sanctioned event will feature competitive divisions for athletes at all levels, encouraging "athletes of all capabilities to compete and enjoy the Canadian community we all love." Event director Morgan Chaulk concluded, "We are proud to be a part of the CrossFit community and cannot wait to host this event."
