Three Jones Lang LaSalle Executives Author "Six Sigma for Sustainability"
Published by McGraw-Hill Professional, new book by Thomas McCarty, Michael Jordan and Daniel Probst reveals strategies for organizations to design and deploy winning environmental programs
CHICAGO, Sept. 27, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- "Six Sigma for Sustainability: How Organizations Design and Deploy Winning Environmental Programs," a new hardcover book published by McGraw-Hill Professional, was co-written by Thomas McCarty, Michael Jordan and Daniel Probst, three Jones Lang LaSalle executives and experts in quality management and sustainability.
"Six Sigma for Sustainability" describes how organizations can use the power of Six Sigma quality management methods to conceptualize, implement and maintain environmental sustainability programs that provide measurable benefits to society and to the economic bottom line.
Drawing on their expertise and real-world experiences, the authors reveal how Six Sigma can help organizations develop a collaborative management model that includes key employees, independent subject-matter experts, suppliers and customers, and ultimately drives breakthrough performance on sustainability initiatives.
For example, the authors apply the Six Sigma principle of the "transfer function" – the critical few activities that, when managed, meet or exceed the expectations of customers and other stakeholders – to the development of corporate sustainability programs. In designing a program based on customers' view of success, an organization lays the groundwork for quality function deployment, also known as the "house of quality," which ensures alignment among the many corporate units and functions that will contribute to the sustainability program.
The authors include:
- Thomas McCarty, a Six Sigma Master Black Belt and lead author of The Six Sigma Handbook, serves as Managing Director in Jones Lang LaSalle's Strategic Consulting group, where he leads Six Sigma engagements within the firm and on behalf of clients.
- Michael Jordan, a Six Sigma Master Black Belt and LEED Accredited Professional, serves as Senior Vice President at Jones Lang LaSalle, where he leads the corporate sustainability consulting practice across the Americas region.
- Daniel Probst, a LEED Accredited Professional, serves as Chairman of Jones Lang LaSalle's global Energy and Sustainability Services group, which has saved clients $300 million in energy costs and helped more than 100 properties gain LEED certification over the past three years.
"Six Sigma for Sustainability" is available on major online booksellers. In addition, Jordan and Probst will promote the book during personal appearances at real estate and sustainability conferences where they are scheduled speakers, including: Greenbuild, October 4-7, Toronto; Net Impact Conference, October 27-29, Portland; CoreNet Global Summit, November 6-8, Atlanta; and ICSC RetailGreen, November 29-30, Phoenix.
