Three ERH retirement communities receive CARF-CCAC accreditation
CINCINNATI, Aug. 7, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Three properties owned and operated by Episcopal Retirement Homes have received accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and the Continuing Care Accreditation Commission (CCAC). Marjorie P. Lee, Deupree House and Deupree Cottages, all located in Hyde Park, have received the accreditation.
CARF-CCAC accreditation is awarded to organizations that meet many high standards including program quality, treatment of residents and clients and business practices. CARF is an independent non-profit accreditor of health and human services. According to its website, CARF "assists service providers in improving the quality of their services, demonstrating value, and meeting internationally recognized organizational and program standards."
"This is an exciting achievement for us," said Laura Lamb, ERH Vice President of Residential Housing and Health Care and leader of the accreditation process for all three communities. "While we've always known our programs for seniors are of the highest quality, accreditation demonstrates to potential residents and their families that we are accountable and that we are committed to excellence in our programs and service to our residents.
Marjorie P. Lee, Deupree House and Deupree Cottages are accredited for a five-year period, the highest level of CARF-CCAC accreditation. Recipients are expected to commit to quality improvement, focus on each resident's unique needs and monitor results of services to residents. In addition to continuing care retirement communities, CARF-CCAC also awards accreditation to other organizations and programs serving seniors.
Accreditation involves a year-long process of self-evaluation and conformance to several rigorous CARF standards. After an on-site survey of communities with accreditation surveyors, accreditation is awarded based on the surveyors' report to the CARF organization. ERH communities will undergo a review and re-accreditation process in 2017.
