PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 21, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Pancreatic cancer is one of the nation's deadliest cancers, with a five-year survival rate of just seven percent. To change the future for this disease and to celebrate Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month, nearly 5,000 local supporters will join the Philadelphia Affiliate of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network at PurpleStride Philadelphia, presented by Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Thomas Jefferson University.
Register today at purplestride.org/philadelphia.
The 5K timed run and awareness walk taking place on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015 at Memorial Hall, Fairmont Park will begin at 8 a.m. with registration opening at 6:30 a.m.
"It is time to Wage Hope in the fight against pancreatic cancer," said Bruce Platt, Affiliate Chair and Spokesperson for the Philadelphia Affiliate. "We are coming together on Nov. 7, to honor those who have fought this disease, and make an impact in advancing research as well as ensuring patients across the country have access to crucial resources and information that the organization provides."

The strategy combines research, builds and sustains federal support, provides support for individuals and families living with the disease through its unique patient services and raises awareness in communities across the country.
