Thousands of Families, Educators to Explore School Choice at STEM and Charter School Expo
SANDY, Utah, Jan. 19, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Hands-on STEM demonstrations and student performances will be featured at a STEM and Charter School Expo expected to attract nearly 4,000 students, parents, teachers, and community members on Saturday, Jan. 26.
The event will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Mountain America Exposition Center and will feature an impressive array of STEM projects from students throughout Utah. The various schools represented at the Charter School Expo will give parents the opportunity to discover what makes each school unique and which school best meets the needs of their children.
This event is planned to coincide with the history-making celebration of National School Choice Week 2019, which will feature more than 40,000 school choice events across all 50 states.
"We are excited to see a growing number of Utah families exercising choice in education," said Erik Roan, director of communications and government relations at the Utah Association of Public Charter Schools. "The benefits are a two-way street: schools face competition, pushing them to deliver the best product for their students, and families are able to consider their children's unique educational needs. Here in Utah, we will be celebrating National and Utah School Choice Week with hundreds of events, one of the largest of which will be this STEM and Charter School Expo. Nowhere else in the state will parents see as many options for education as at our school choice celebration."
This event's organizer, the Utah Association for Public Charter Schools, works to provide top-notch advocacy, training, support programs, and benefits for charter schools statewide.
As a nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort, National School Choice Week shines a positive spotlight on effective education options for students, families, and communities around the country. From January 20 through 26, 2019, more than 40,000 independently-planned events will be held in celebration of the Week. For more information, visit www.schoolchoiceweek.com.
