ThoughtWorks Studios Launches New Online Build and Release Management Self-Assessment
Online diagnostics and analysis helps assess effectiveness of practices focused on software build and release
ORLANDO, Fla., Aug. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Agile 2010 -- ThoughtWorks Studios (www.thoughtworks-studios.com), a global leader in Agile ALM solutions, today announced the Build and Release Management Assessment (www.agileassessments.com), a new online tool that gauges the status of Agile practices related to building and releasing software. The complimentary self-assessment tool consists of 20 questions that cover all aspects of the software delivery process. The end result is a customized report with high-level analysis and potential areas for planning and executing improvements to existing build and release management practices.
"The self-assessment questions and analysis are based on ThoughtWorks' extensive experience helping our customers achieve faster time-to-market and higher quality software through improving their build and release management processes," said Jez Humble, build and release principal for ThoughtWorks Studios and product manager for its recently launched Agile release management platform, Go™. "It is definitely worth the 10 minutes to complete."
The Build and Release Management Assessment is comprised of a set of multiple-choice ratings that help determine the extent to which teams are applying Agile practices related to building and releasing software. Practice areas include: build management and continuous integration, testing, data management, deployment and environment management, release management and configuration management. Based on users' input, it provides organizations with a report that includes a short summary of Agile process maturity and identifies areas for improvement. In addition, the Build and Release Management Assessment organizes and makes available a wide range of useful content, including blogs, books and analyst insight, that form a useful resource framework for any Agile adoption process.
ThoughtWorks (professional services) and ThoughtWorks Studios (training and Agile ALM solutions), continue to jointly develop best practices focused on streamlining and automating the build and release processes. Recently completed initiatives include the release of Continuous Delivery, a new book co-written by ThoughtWorks employee Humble, and a three-hour tutorial session at the Agile 2010 conference on Continuous Delivery presented by Humble and ThoughtWorks' chief scientist Martin Fowler. On the product side, ThoughtWorks Studios just launched Go, a new product within its Adaptive ALM™ solution that automates the entire build, test and deployment process to help organizations release software faster and more reliably. A free download of a trial version of Go is available at (www.thoughtworks-studios.com/go).
In addition, Build and Release Management Assessment comes on the heels of ThoughtWorks newly announced Build, Release DevOps service offering made at Agile 2010. The new service offering helps IT organizations assess, plan and implement new processes that lead to rapid and reliable releases of quality software. This hands-on, on-site service focuses on adopting proven best practices, deploying automation tools and properly aligning organizational structures that collectively bring stability and efficiency across the software lifecycle.
