Thomson Reuters Expands News and Insight Offering to New York Legal Marketplace
New product covers lawyers and firms, state and federal lawsuits, decisions, judges and more
NEW YORK, May 13, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Thomson Reuters has launched a website (newsandinsight.com/legal/NY) and a mobile app for New York-based legal practitioners that bring together cutting-edge news from Reuters, the global news leader, with unmatched legal analysis and materials from Westlaw, the leader in legal research.
This new offering, launched under the broader Thomson Reuters News & Insight suite, covers everything from the first word on important verdicts to the scoop on who's winning big cases, who's getting big clients and who's changing firms, so New York attorneys can be informed and can better serve their clients.
"We've created a new approach to professional news," said Steve Adler, editor-in-chief of Reuters. "We're delivering value by offering our customers world-class journalism combined with the necessary tools to stitch together the common threads of isolated events, so they can identify opportunities that will drive their success."
As part of this launch, acclaimed legal journalist Alison Frankel debuts her "On the Case" column – a daily take on the most important litigation and litigators in the U.S. Other featured content includes Reuters coverage from Albany on the New York state legislature, just-filed lawsuits from Westlaw's "Courtwire," timely legal documents, exclusive articles on practice trends, legal analysis from top practitioners, and "Summary Judgments," a round-up of must-read legal stories from around the world.
Leading the expansion of news for legal customers at Reuters are Amy Stevens, formerly deputy page one editor and legal columnist at The Wall Street Journal and deputy editor at Conde Nast Portfolio, and Eric Effron, former executive editor of The Week magazine and editor and publisher of Legal Times. Additional journalists and lawyers on the team previously worked at Bloomberg, American Lawyer, Businessweek, Law360, The New York Observer, The New York Law Journal and The National Law Journal.
Said Jim Smith, CEO of the Professional division of Thomson Reuters: "Our legal news team delivers unique value to customers by bringing together current-awareness information, legal content and analysis into legal professionals' workflow. We're providing a new level of insight that will help our customers quickly draw connections between news, facts, the law and the work they do for clients every day."
