Thomson CompuMark and EnCirca Help Clients 'Opt-Out' from .XXX
Brand Owners Can Still Protect Their Trademarks
BOSTON, Jan. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- EnCirca and Thomson CompuMark, a business unit of Thomson Reuters, announced today a continuation of their special .XXX "opt-out" process to help brand owners block the use of their registered trademarks in the new adult-orientated domain. Brand owners can register non-resolving .XXX domain names on a first-come, first-served basis. To learn more about the special opt-out page, visit: http://www.encirca.com/tcm.
"Our customers who are not members of the adult entertainment industry still can protect their marks in the new domain by opting out of participation," says Anne Olson, Vice President, Global Operations for Thomson CompuMark. "We are pleased to offer this service through the General Availability phase as the new domain poses risks for our customers interested in safeguarding their name."
Now that the .XXX sunrise period for trademark owners is over, general availability has begun, and any domain names still unregistered are available for ownership. EnCirca can register all domain names as non-resolving by default so that membership in the .XXX sponsored community is not required. EnCirca also offers a free Whois privacy service for customers who prefer not to be publicly listed as the owner of the name.
"EnCirca developed this service with Thomson CompuMark because we recognized that brand owners still have a lot of names they want to protect that were not eligible during the sunrise period," says Thomas Barrett, President of EnCirca. "Thomson CompuMark customers will be able to protect unregistered trademarks and common names during the open registration period."
