Thompson & Knight Welcomes Trial Attorney

DALLAS, Jan. 5, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Thompson & Knight LLP is pleased to announce Melissa M. Davis has joined the Firm's Austin office as Counsel in the Trial Practice Group.

"Melissa's work as an appellate attorney for the Texas Supreme Court and the First Court of Appeals gives her valuable, hands-on appellate experience that will be an asset to our clients," said Greg W. Curry, the Firm's Trial Practice Leader.   

Davis, who is Board Certified in Civil Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, focuses her practice on appellate law and litigation, including oral argument and briefing in the appellate courts; strategic dispositive motions, preservation of error, jury charges, and judgments in the trial courts; and mandamus proceedings. She received a J.D., with honors, from The University of Texas School of Law in 2004 and a B.S., magna cum laude, in Political Science and Business from Texas A&M University in 2001. Davis has authored several law review articles including Eight Gates for Expert Witnesses: Fifteen Years Later, 52 Univ. of Hous. L. Rev. 1 (2014), which she co-authored with Justice Harvey Brown, and Procedural Protections for Punitive Damages: Ensuring that Juries Are Asking the Right Questions about Wealth Evidence, 81 Temple L. Rev. 1119 (2008).

Prior to joining Thompson & Knight, Davis was an attorney for the Honorable Jeffrey S. Boyd, Chief Justice, Texas Supreme Court (2013-2015) and for the Honorable Harvey G. Brown, United States First Court of Appeals (2011-2013). She also was a Partner at private law firm Ware Jackson Lee & Chambers, LLP (2007-201) in Houston.
