Thompson & Knight Awards Five Law Scholarships

HOUSTON, July 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The law firm of Thompson & Knight LLP has awarded its third annual Thompson & Knight Law Preview Scholarships to five diverse students. The 2014 scholarship recipients, Royce Egeolu, Zeinab Kachmar, Vardan Ramazyan, Daniel Rodriguez, and Jessica Waddle, will enter the University of Houston Law Center this fall. 

"The Law Preview program prepares first-year law students for the challenges of law school by equipping the students with the skills and techniques necessary to succeed," said Nichole Dotson-Olajuwon, the Firm's Chief Diversity Officer. "This complements and expands upon the many pipeline initiatives we currently sponsor with the goal of contributing meaningfully to the advancement of diverse individuals and women in local communities and in the legal profession."

To be eligible for a Thompson & Knight Law Preview Scholarship, applicants must be a member of a racial, ethnic, or gender group which has been historically underrepresented in the legal profession or a member of the LGBT community, and enrolled to begin classes at University of Houston Law Center in the fall.

Scholarship recipients attend a six-day, intensive Law Preview prep course taught by distinguished faculty that helps students prepare for their first year of law school. During the course, students receive overviews for each core first-year course and learn efficient study skills, unique exam-taking methods, and time management techniques. Courses are offered in various areas of study including civil procedure, constitutional law, contracts, criminal law, property, torts, and legal research and writing.
