Board of Directors Confirms Appointment Following Nine Months in Interim Role.
KANSAS CITY, Mo., Oct. 24, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The MRIGlobal Board of Directors today announced that Thomas M. Sack, Ph.D, has been appointed as President and Chief Executive Officer of MRIGlobal.

With the appointment, Sack assumes responsibility for all MRIGlobal operations, a $100 million contract research organization working in global health, energy, national security and defense. MRIGlobal employs about 550 people, including chemists, biologists, and engineers working in 10 US locations and overseas.
The position includes responsibility for MRIGlobal's partnership in the Alliance for Sustainable Energy LLC, which manages more than $400 million in research at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, Colo., for the U.S. Department of Energy.

Sack previously served as Senior Vice President and Director of Technical Operations. He first joined the institute, then known as Midwest Research Institute, as a college intern. His technical specialty encompasses high-performance applications of mass spectrometry, the chemistry and detection of chemical warfare agents, analytical methods for trace analysis, and program management.
Sack received a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from Rockhurst University and a Ph.D. in analytical chemistry from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He is a member of the American Chemical Society and has coauthored more than 50 publications and technical papers.
An advocate for science education, Sack serves on the Board of Directors of Science Pioneers and previously on the Executive Advisory Committee for FIRST Robotics, Kansas City Region. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Alliance for Sustainable Energy and on the Institutional Advisory Committee of the Kansas City Area Life Sciences Institute.
