Thomas J. Henry Injury Attorneys' Clients Awarded $28.4 Million in Company Vehicle Accident Case

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas, Aug. 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Thomas J. Henry Injury Attorneys has obtained a multi-million dollar jury verdict on behalf of a mother and her adult daughter who were injured in a company vehicle accident. A Jim Wells County jury returned a verdict in the amount of $28.4 million to Thomas J. Henry Injury Attorneys' clients, Angelique Briones (age 40) and Elida Briones (age 57), for injuries sustained during a 2010 company vehicle accident in Alice, Texas. The case (Cause No: 12-03-50941-CV) was tried in 79^th Judicial Court of Jim Wells County. On entry of judgment the verdict may be increased to as much as $32 million due to pre-trial interest.

The accident occurred on October 19, 2010 when Thomas J. Henry Injury Attorneys' clients Angelique and Elida Briones were passengers in a LeFleur Transportation of Texas, Inc. transport vehicle being driven by Delfina Salazar. According to court documents, Salazar entered an intersection on a yellow light on Highway 44 in Alice and was struck by another vehicle. The accident caused injuries to both Angelique and Elida Briones. Angelique Briones suffered a back injury requiring surgery. Her mother, Elida, suffered a neck injury and also underwent surgery.

Although it was disputed before the trial, testimony presented in court showed that Delfina Salazar was not adequately trained on driver safety before the accident.
