Thomas Cook Photographic "Holiday of a Lifetime" Competition Reaches Final Stages
LONDON, May 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
Travelers young and old have been sharing their favourite memories with the Thomas Cook Facebook community in a bid to win £20,000 towards their dream holiday. From family snaps taken on Lanzarote holidays, to a mountain view on a backpacking trip through Thailand, more than 4,000 photos have now been uploaded to the competition page.
But time is running out to join the race for the big prize. Entry to the Thomas Cook Facebook competition will close on May 31, so it's time for the nation to start searching hard drives and dust off the photo albums to find the most precious travel moments. Thomas Cook is looking for an awe-inspiring photograph that shows off an explorer's spirit, taken by someone with the sense of adventure to make new adventures happen.
To enter the competition, holidaymakers need to upload a single photograph to the Thomas Cook Facebook page. Whether the shot was taken on a disposable camera while windsurfing in Rhodes, or on a state-of-the-art DSLR while hiking in Dalaman Turkey, the photo simply needs to show a real spirit of adventure to be in with a chance of winning the £20,000.
Once the competition closes at the end of the month, a panel of guest judges will whittle down the thousands of entries to a carefully selected shortlist, before handing over the reins to the Thomas Cook social community. Facebook fans will be able to choose their favourite photo between June 9 and 18, helping to bag one lucky competitor the trip of a lifetime.
Thomas Cook's panel of judges brings together travel experts from all walks of life, including Frank Barrett, Travel Editor of The Mail on Sunday, Linda Lusardi, former model and international celebrity photographer and Lisa Minot, the Travel Editor at The Sun and the Sunday Sun.
Joining this impressive group are two hardworking members of the Thomas Cook's Get Satisfaction forum. Tracey Reynolds and Jan Cornall have both been members of the customer forum for over a year, using their own travel experience to provide tips and advice to their fellow holidaymakers. A fan of cheap holidays to Europe, Jan recently expanded her own travel horizons with a long-haul trip to Cuba, whilst Tracey prefers to return to her favourite spot in Kalamaki, Zante for a relaxing beach break each summer.
