This Holiday Season, Give Ladies the Gift of Self-Defense
Registration Opens for Hillsdale College's Shooting Camps for Ladies and Couples
HILLSDALE, Mich., Dec. 22, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Hillsdale College today announced the upcoming dates for its 2016 Ladies for Liberty and Couples for Liberty shooting camps and seminars.
Ladies for Liberty takes place June 5-9, 2016. The $1,200 enrollment fee includes lodging, meals, lessons, and receptions at the Dow Conference Center on the Hillsdale College campus. Couples for Liberty is offered Sept. 11-16, 2016. The $2,785 enrollment fee includes lodging, meals, receptions and lessons for two attendees. Seminars are held at Hillsdale College and its John Anthony Halter Shooting Sports Education Center, a 112-acre state-of-the-art shooting facility. National Rifle Association-certified instructors, Sheila Hoekstra and Bart Spieth, provide training and instruction.
"What better gift can someone give this holiday season than the gift of security and confidence?" said Bart Spieth, range master at the Halter Shooting Sports Education Center. "We developed the Ladies for Liberty camp for women of all experience levels, to help them learn the fundamentals of firearms safety and to refine their skills. The camp provides a safe and collaborative atmosphere that I think allows women to feel comfortable, enabling them to ask questions and learn best at their own pace."
As an additional benefit, participants attend lectures by Hillsdale College faculty members on topics related to the Constitution, including the Second Amendment.
Training topics include:
- An introduction to handgun function and operation
- Self-defense at home and away
- Comparison of semi-automatic pistols and revolvers
- How to select self-defense accessories
- "Refuse to be a victim" courses
- An introduction to clay-target shooting
Shooters ages 21 and up of all experience levels are welcome at either course. Attendees may bring their own firearms after approval by event staff in advance. Light-recoiling handguns will be available.
Winchester and Smith & Wesson are sponsors for these camps. Hillsdale College is thankful for their continued support.
