This 4th of July, Drivers Should Think About Their Fuel
BISMARCK, N.D., June 30 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- This 4th of July weekend, some fortunate North Dakota drivers will celebrate a relatively new freedom – the freedom to choose what type of fuel to put in their car, truck or van. For those with flex fuel vehicles, ethanol-based E85 is an option at a growing number of stations in North Dakota.
"Even though North Dakota is an oil-producing state, and many people benefit directly and indirectly from the revenue and jobs created by the petroleum industry, it is still very important that we look for other types of fuels that are more renewable, better for our environment and better for our health," said Robert Moffitt, a spokesperson for the American Lung Association in North Dakota. "We calculate that if a single flex fuel vehicle is fueled with E85 instead of gasoline for a year, it prevents 4 tons of emissions from entering our air."
The Clean Air Choice Team, which includes the American Lung Association in North Dakota, has launched a statewide advertising campaign that focuses on motorists filling up for the long 4th of July weekend. The goal of the radio and print ads is to educate people about E85 and intermediate ethanol blends such as E30 and E50, also designed to be used in flex fuel vehicles.
