Third Annual Georgia Gives Day to take place Nov. 13, 2014
Organizers look to build on $2.5 million raised for Georgia nonprofits during event's first two years.
ATLANTA, Aug. 13, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Georgia Center for Nonprofits (GCN) announces the third annual Georgia Gives Day will take place on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014. This online fundraiser will drive awareness and donations for participating nonprofits across the state, as Georgians come together for a 24-hour day of giving.
Georgia Gives Day brings the state together as one community to help build capacity for local charities throughout Georgia. Since the inaugural event in 2012, Georgia Gives Day has brought more than 1,700 participating nonprofits together with nearly 19,000 donors to raise more than $2.5 million that directly benefited these nonprofits. Donors can give directly via the Georgia Gives Day website online or through their mobile device.
"In 2013, we reached a new level of engagement among our nonprofits and corporate partners for Georgia Gives Day, and Georgians stepped up and nearly doubled the results from our inaugural year," said Karen Beavor, president and CEO of GCN. "We've built on that momentum and are excited to reach new heights in 2014."
Georgia Gives Day 2014 will once again feature "Power Hours" and "Golden Tickets," popular competitions that reward nonprofits who receive the most donations and random drawings that add up to $1,000 onto individual donations that come in through the website throughout the day, respectively. Nonprofits at the top of leaderboards for most dollars and most donors will also be rewarded with bonus incentive funds. These competitions, which add excitement and incentives to donate on Georgia Gives Day, are made possible through the generous support of GCN's corporate funding partners, including Coca-Cola, SunTrust Foundation, Wells Fargo, Knight Foundation, and others.
Georgia Gives Day has proven to be a popular way for nonprofits to engage with new constituents. According to a survey of all donors who participated in Georgia Gives Day 2013, 10 percent made their first-ever donation to a nonprofit, 17 percent gave to a new nonprofit, and 19 percent donated more than they budgeted to give on Georgia Gives Day.
All nonprofit organizations with 501(c)(3) designation are invited to participate free of charge and may register on www.GAgivesday.org by October 1. Learn more by visiting www.GAgivesday.org.
