Envirogen and ThermoEnergy are pursuing more than 100 potential opportunities where glycol management programs are being created at airports to reduce the effects of biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) in Europe's waterways. The companies expect these opportunities will result in substantial new business over the next few years.
"European environmental restrictions on Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) concentrations in storm water are having a direct impact on Airport Deicing Fluids, driving the need for more cost efficient recovery systems," said Bob Marrs, Vice President of International Business Development at ThermoEnergy Corporation. "In addition the EU is providing grants and other forms of funding for glycol remediation at airports. The ability to concentrate and recycle glycol for reuse or resale is a big competitive advantage for our systems," said Marrs.
"Envirogen and ThermoEnergy are making serious inroads with European airport authorities," said Dr. Amir Ali Esmaily, Senior Process Consultant at Envirogen Ireland Ltd. "We have also gained the support of several EU and national governmental organizations in our marketing efforts throughout Europe. We are confident that Europe will be a strong market for ThermoEnergy ADF Recovery Systems."
