ThermoEnergy is a diversified technologies company engaged in the development and sales of leading wastewater recovery and power generation technologies. In the interview, Bullock listed specific products that ThermoEnergy is deploying now and in the near future to remove and recover reusable resources for municipal, industrial, and agricultural customers.
In the clean air arena, the company has developed a pressurized oxy-combustion system to remove carbon emissions in coal-fired power plants while increasing power plant efficiency between 5.5 and 6 percent over most atmospheric combustion technologies, including atmospheric oxy-combustion. In addition, Bullock noted that ThermoEnergy has established the Unity Power Alliance to promote its oxy-combustion technology.
In the municipal wastewater field, Bullock pointed out that ThermoEnergy has a contract valued at approximately $30 million with the City of New York to remove ammonia from wastewater in order to prevent pollution of Jamaica Bay. The nitrogen byproduct of ThermoEnergy's process is captured and sold by the company as fertilizer.
In addition, ThermoEnergy has sold systems for capturing aircraft de-icing fluid to prevent water pollution and for recycling as glycol to comply with European clean water regulations now in place and for the U.S., where EPA regulations that are now being finalized.
Bullock said that worldwide markets in clean air and water and for fertilizer are massive and that ThermoEnergy has developed a replicable, three-part strategy for winning a share of the business in each of these areas that includes: 1. control of patented, intellectual property; 2. segmenting markets and finding key customers worldwide; and, 3. repeating the customer acquisition process. To meet its sales goals, the company has established a broad network of independent dealers and representatives throughout the U.S. and internationally.
Bullock also noted that fracking for natural gas also creates opportunities for ThermoEnergy's clean water solutions, representing another area of potential growth for the company.
