PORTLAND, Ore., Aug. 13, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- StormCon Portland was a huge success. Over the last 13 years we've forged some tremendous relationships within the stormwater community and the industry. More of you then at any previous time attended the event, sharing with us and with each other your technical expertise, successes, frustrations, and insights on an array of surface water-quality issues.
StormCon brought together from communities of every size and stage, stormwater managers, engineers, and designers torn by competing priorities: Examining diverse funding options. Building a stormwater utility–or not. Deciding how best to comply with federal and state regulations. Finding and evaluating BMPs that will work under local conditions. Achieving water-quality standards that support the activities people want to carry out on local waterways. Establishing and maintaining flood control in communities that are becoming increasingly impervious. Looking for new and innovative green solutions and augmenting stormwater infrastructure in older communities.
The dialog that you are carrying on is an important one, and we're both pleased and honored that StormCon is your venue of choice. We will continue to raise the bar next year as we bring stormwater professionals face to face once again. We look forward to bringing everyone together under one roof. The JW Marriott Austin was chosen as the venue, this new hotel will bring StormCon 2015 conference and exposition to a whole new level. It's a mere seven and a half miles, less than a 15-minutes drive, from the airport. The hotel features 110,000 square feet of meeting and exhibition space, coupled with a superior downtown location.
Next year's stormwater conference is building upon the success of the previous events. A number of individuals, organizations, agencies and companies will be working collaboratively in presenting StormCon 2015 in Austin, Texas. All of these groups are committed to delivering accurate information to those who need to develop a comprehensive stormwater and watershed management strategy.
We have an exciting year ahead of us! A year of change and a year in which we have an opportunity to work smarter and in partnership with other stormwater professionals, organizations, agencies and companies to grow and maintain StormCon as the undisputed leader in the industry.
