TheLadders Disrupts The Job Search With Industry-Changing Mobile App
- New Mobile App Eliminates "Search" from the Job Search -
NEW YORK, June 20, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, at JobMobile San Francisco, online job-matching service TheLadders will reveal its native iOS mobile app that promises to disrupt the industry-standard, job-board model. Developed with a feature-lean approach, TheLadders' app, "Job Search by TheLadders," now available for free on the App Store℠, provides an unprecedented way to identify job matches on-the-go, discover new job opportunities, and retrieve information on the competition.
"The job-search evolution from the web to mobile devices -- a $6 billion opportunity that is ripe for the taking -- could be as significant as the transition of print newspapers going online," said TheLadders CEO & Co-founder Alex Douzet. "Although dozens of career apps exist, they require applicants visit the employer's site, whereas, we have built an intuitive user interface that offers a minimalistic, one-tap approach to the job-search experience."
By eliminating the need for keyword searches, which Douzet calls a "primitive job-search strategy," TheLadders instead will deliver tailored job matches based upon members' profiles, expertise, and desired career moves. Additionally, the app offers a one-tap approach for job seekers to signal their intent to employers, streamlining the job-matching process down from days to hours. If job seekers are interested in a position, they can save it for later or simply tap the "thumbs-up" icon to "like" the position, which immediately alerts the hiring manager. Additionally, job listings are refreshed every time the mobile app is opened, ensuring that job seekers are privy to the newest listings.
"Our research reveals that 72 hours after an employer publishes a new opening, the likelihood of a job seeker's resume being considered plummets by 50 percent," said TheLadders Job Search Expert Amanda Augustine. "With the shelf life of a job opportunity being merely three days, job seekers must be plugged into their searches around-the-clock. TheLadders' new mobile app enables job seekers to effortlessly discover and reply to job matches the moment they publish, helping the right person find – and land – the right job."
The iPhone® app, available today on the App Store, also will include "TheLadders Scout," a proprietary, competitive-analysis tool. For the first time, on-the-go job seekers will be able to assess their competition for a job – before they even apply. Displayed in a highly visual representation, "TheLadders Scout" will arm potential applicants with self-reported information about fellow candidates in five categories: years of experience, education level, areas of expertise, current title, and current salary. With a quick swipe of a finger on the new job-discovery mechanism, job seekers will be able to view other jobs to which a specific applicant has applied.
TheLadders app is the latest achievement in the company's strategy to restructure its offerings with a mobile-first lens. Earlier this year, TheLadders updated its online platform to be mobile-responsive, and launched a nationwide event series, titled JobMobile, to recognize and celebrate innovations in mobile recruitment.
"Job Search by TheLadders" is now available exclusively on the App Store. Additional information, including a white paper, can be found on TheLadders Blog.
