The Z, Bedrock's first Detroit ground-up development, is a 10-story, specialty street-level retail and parking development that will create 34,000 square feet of retail space, along with 1,300 new parking spaces. The new structure zigzags from the corner of Broadway and East Grand River to the corner of Library Street and Gratiot, occupying what was previously a surface lot. Construction on The Z began in late 2012 and will be completed in December of this year.
"The Z isn't just about shopping and parking; it will allow visitors an opportunity to experience refreshing and intriguing art inside a building they would least expect to see it," said Dan Mullen, Vice President of Development at Bedrock. "From the abstract facade to boutique retail, along with the street-art experience, The Z will be a place people want to visit over and over again."
