The "Fall in Love with Chinese Opera" flash mob was co-sponsored by Beauty Media, ICN TV Network, Peking LUX Shine Culture Media Co., and Beijing Opera Art's College. As a part of 2017 Chinese Opera Week, this live performance brought Chinese opera off the stage and into people's daily life.
It also boldly incorporated exciting elements such as a Harley motorcycle, supercars, modern opera makeup into the age-old tradition of Chinese opera, drawing huge crowds of local and foreign visitors. The flirting between traditional and modern elements and the combination of eastern and western cultures were beautiful manifestations of the themes of heritage and fusion. Chinese opera is re-entering people's lives in creative new ways. The breathtakingly modern presentation left the crowd gasping: I never knew Chinese opera could be fashionable and hip like this!
With the theme of "China's Dream, Chinese Soul, Love for Opera", 2017 Chinese Opera Week included a variety of fun components, including a massive float parade, fully staged performances, showcases for local styles, an amateurs' competition, and many more. It truly was a top-notch cultural festival that is still reverberating influence world-wide. Aren't you impressed?
